PERFUME, THE FRAGRANCE OF FASHION
Some time ago I went into a perfumery. I started testing various scents, taking into consideration only the look of the bottles. Something like: “red will surely kill me with being too sweet, blue will bring freshness and refreshment.” Then I started wondering if the bottle is important. Can it inspire? Can we adjust our appearance to the scent that we’re using? I’m sure we can! In order to prove that to you, I decided to present a series of articles in which I “dress up” for some particular scents 🙂
I. Jean Paul Gaultier „Classique Couple”
I start a bit patriotic, because as a girl from the seaside, I have to mention marine motives 🙂 All the more that it’s the main inspiration for the limited edition of “Classic” by Jean Paul Gaultier. The women ones are navy-white and the men – white-navy. They have a common denominator, though: a red heart tattooed on their “chest”. One has to mention that fascination with sailors is the designer’s characteristics. He loves the image of carefree, naughty boys, breaking women’s hearts and draws his inspiration from them as much as he can. He fancies uniforms, headpieces and their characteristic tattoos.
I decided to follow his steps and create a look of my own. Of course I had to mess it up a bit, as everything is a bit “basic” and I don’t like them! 😉 I drove the boredom away, combining stripes with a lacy skirt and golden stilettos. In order not to be regarded as a minimalist, I added a hairband, earrings and a golden watch 😉 Perfecto!
Horizontal stripes can give you a couple of pounds, but don’t focus on that! All you need to do is learn how to team them with other items.
I would have forgotten! I very often hear that you don’t know how to wear striped clothes and what to team tchem with, as you fear that they make you look bigger. Here I come to help you! 😉 Above all: OK, horizontal stripes can give you a couple of extra pounds, but don’t focus on it!
If you put them underneath (on a shirt, for example) and put a plain jacket over them – it’s all gonna be alright. As you already how to combine them, now I’m gonna tell you what to combine them with. What would you say for a stripy jacket (or a top), wide geometric pattern trousers and half a kilo of golden bracelets on both of your hands? Yeah, I know – you’d also add some earrings. And that’s perfect! 😀
HINT: For subtle blondes with fair complexion I recommend a bit wishy-washy colors of the stripes – for example a combination of white and blue. Girls with dark hair and blue eyes look perfectly in white with intensive navy. For the brown eyes brunettes I recommend black and white.

II. Juicy Couture „Peace, love and Juicy Couture”
Peace, love and Juicy Couture is the opposite of subdued bottles. Freedom, joy, light-heartedness – these words are the most accurate to describe the hippie style bottle. I just imagine a summer morning, fragrant and fresh, running bare feet on the grass. And singing, noo, SHOUTING “” If you’re going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair!.” Fresh, like undisturbed happiness 😉
If you’ve got a soul of a hippie, summer is a perfect moment to get inspired by boho. Sienna Miller, Alexa Chung, the Olsen sisters very often refer to the crazy 70’s and boho aesthetics in their looks. The biggest propagator of hippie style is the stars stylist – Rachel Zoe. She dresses as if she was born in those times! She embellishes her messy hair with hairbands and wears patterned bell-bottoms with Aztec motives. Take a peek at her style, it’s a real mine of inspiration. Wear purses with tassels, airy tunics and wide floral trousers. I also suggest a bit of hand made stuff for the volunteers 😀 Not too much (who has time for it nowadays), but a couple of studs stuck on a crochet top is enough!
HINT: Wide „skirt-trousers” will perfectly hide your curves. Remember that the more hefty your thighs and hips are, the more fine the patterns on your legs should be. Then go for, for example a delicate meadow and resign from horizontal stripes.

III. Chanel „No. 5”
And for the end, Chanel No. 5, absolute classic and class! The history of the perfumes reaches the 20’s – the times of Coco’s biggest prosperity. It’s not a secret that she was incredibly enterprising. She came up with a business idea where no one saw even its misty silhouette. As one of the first she understood that you can’t earn on haute couture forever: the target group is limited, and the times uncertain. She was persuaded to start a new business by one of her friends, who said: “perfume is a stable business, resistant to all crisis!”
Once every 20 years the bottle is slightly changed – so that it would best express the current style.
She didn’t have to repeat it to Coco: she used her connections and contacted an experienced perfumer, Ernest Beaux. She asked him to compose a fragrance, giving him one simple expectation: it has to be universal, to be used both for the day and for the evening. Ernest took the challenge! She sent 10 test bottles into her Parisian atelier, they were labeled from 1 to 5 and from 20 to 24. She chose number 5… and that’s how it stayed till today! 😉 A simple name and a plain, farmaceutic bottle. I’m only gonna add that the bottle is slightly changed every 20 years – so that it would best express the current style.
Even Marylin Monroe herself admitted that when she goes to sleep she wears only Chanel number 5. You can only imagine what a view that was! 😉 But and inspiration is an inspiration, but I’d rather keep away from the “blogs only for adults” category… 😀 I suggest something more practical: a combination of pearls on the neck with a sequin skirt. All that complemented by chiffon, tulle and lace, namely pure glamour and elegance! There’s a lot going on with the patterns here, so I decided to keep the colors subdued. I know, it’s not like me, but… I decided to pay my respect to Chanel’s genius – of course in a Macademian way 😉
HINT: If you widen your arms with a frill or a couple of layers of tulle, you have to accentuate your waist. You don’t wanna look like a snowman. Even like a glamour version of it 😉
