The beginning of jeans is associated with the California Gold Rush in the 19th century. The men working at the mines needed comfortable, and lasting outfits. Levi Straus came to help, sewing denim trousers – thick material destined for tarpaulins and tents 😉 Ever since the trousers have come a long way: changes of cuts, improvements, and modernizations. Cinema and stage stars fell in love with them, and they survived up to now. What? Survived? They rule the fashion, are a total basic in every girl’s and guys closet 😉 We couldn’t imagine life without them, wear them casually in the evening, and love that they’re universal and fit our figures. Yeah, we’re gonna talk about that today. I’ll show you what to do to get perfect jeans that would accentuate your figure and butt! Remember those hints, as Marilyn Monroe wore them, Elvis wore them, you should wear them as well! 😀
I. THE SIZE, LET’S DECIPHER THE MYSTERIOUS NUMBERS!
II. A CLOSE-UP AT YOUR FIGURE. A CRITICAL ONE, BUT NOT TOO CRITICAL 😉
Jeans need to mask the imperfections, and stress what’s beautiful. That’s why it’s crucial for you to stand in front of the mirror (only in your lingerie) and think what you like about yourselves, and what you’d rather hide. Make sure you take into account:
- Belly– flat and pretty, hide it, or expose it?
- Waist – strongly accentuated, or maybe in a delicate way, just like in my case?
- Butt – big, small, flat, prominent, or maybe perfect?
- Hips – round, boyish, equal with the waist, or bigger?
- Thighs – slim, or chunky?
- Ankles and calves– slim, or chubby with tendencies to swell?
- Legs in general– too short, too long, or just perfect?
- The whole figure – too slim, perfect, or plus size?
- Shoulders – are they wider than your hips? Or maybe a lot slimmer? You can also make up for such disparities with the cut of your jeans!
According to what your conclusions are, think what letter you are. Take a look at the article in which I described the shapes of the figures types. Are you an X with a visibly accentuated waist, or maybe an A with a pretty top of the figure and stronger hips and thighs, or, quite the opposite – Ys, with beautiful legs and wide shoulders? None of these? 😉 So you must mea n O, with a little bit more round belly, or a slim H without a cut at your waist…. Slim and tall? Well… Probably an I. Short and slim? F! 😉
III. THE CUTS, THAT’S WHERE THE MAGIC BEGINS!
There are a few basic models of jeans:
- BOOTCUT – almost straight legs, getting wider as they reach the bottom. This cut usually looks good on most of the figures, especially if we put on high heels. It makes your legs and body look longer, and your butt slimmer.
- STRAIGHT – also quite universal. They have a similar „effect“ as bootcut, but makes you look even more slim. Both of these models can be encountered in a creased version, which is perfect for A figures.
- PEGS, skinny jeans, fitted legs. Make your curves more round, accentuate beautiful and skinny ankles. They’re great with oversize tops. Forbidden for As, all the rest looks good in them.
- PEGS, skinny jeans, fitted legs. Make your curves more round, accentuate beautiful and skinny ankles. They’re great with oversize tops. Forbidden for As, all the rest looks good in them.
- BOYFRIEND JEANS, too big (deliberately, or course), borrowed from your guy’s closet, falling down on your hips a bit, with wide folded legs. Most of the figures look good in them, as long as you wear them with stilettos. It’s not a model that accentuates your curves; it rather hides too round hips.
- FLARES – getting wider down from the knees. Slim and tall girls look best in these, or slim, tall, and with big breasts and/or wide shoulders.
The matter with color is totally simple: the darker they are, the slimmer you look. All ryps, shades, and white spots in the middle of the legs – they optically give you a couple of kilos. Totally fashionable horizontal cuts work the same way. And remember – there are many colors of jeans. Besides navy and blue, we have all the colors of the rainbow! 😀
Figure A
We have to try to mask the hips. The legs should touch them, not fit them. Wide straight legs will be perfect. If your ankles are cute – reach for stilettos and boyfriends 😉 Creased jeans (yeah, there are some!) are totally for you! Your back pockets should be possibly close, as it optically makes your butt smaller.

Figure X
Everything that accentuates your feminine curves will be awesome. Wear pegs, cigarettes, jeggings, straight legs. If you accentuate your waist strongly, do the same with your neckline (a top with a big cut, for example), you can wear boyfriend jeans as well. Don’t make anything wider or tighter – you’re pretty just the way you are 😉

Figure Y
The upper part of your figure is a bit bigger. The trousers should balance it. Slim Ys should wear flares (for more heavily-built I don’t recommend these, as they make you look fatter). Straight legs, bootcut, boyfriends, and cigarette trousers will be perfect. Additionally, look for models with badges on the sides, and pockets, with braces hanging aside, and everything that gives you a couple of centimeters in that area.

Figure O
High waist, above all. 90-s like cuts, so fashionable now, will be perfect for you. Take a look at the zipper. If it’s aside, don’t even hesitate, it really makes you belly look flat! Wear legs that aren’t too tight, but get more fitted at the end, and leggings, as they’ll accentuate the pretty shape of your legs, but remember – set them with a top of a big neckline.

Figure H
Almost every cut looks good on you (even flares, if you’re slim). Pay attention to pockets aside. It would be good is they were sewn oblique. High waist will make an illusion of a waist, and add a few centimeters to your legs.

Figure I
Just like for H, every kind of jeans will do for you. After all, you’ve got the figure of a model 😉 Make use of the flares trend, as no one wears them as cool as you do! 3/4 length will also be great. Back pockets have to be far from each other – it optically makes your butt look bigger and more round.

Figure F
The shape of the legs isn’t as important as their length. Don’t make them shorter or wind them up, as it optically shortens your figure. Go for high waist, and add stilettos at the bottom 😉 Shop „pettite“ subbrands – Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins, and New Look offer such. All pants that you’ll find there have shorter legs – you won’t have to go to the tailor’s 😉

IV. PRICE AND QUALITY
So we’ve chosen the size, cut, and the color. It’s time to think about the quality. If the fabric is thick, the seams are straight, and beautifully accessorized (zippers, buttons), and the seams are inside – it’s a good sign. Take into consideration the fact, as well. 100 zł ones will probably before one season, 300 and more expensive will last longer. The price’s not everything though, that’s why, above all, look at the ingredients first. The more synthetic material there is, the more elastic the trousers will be. Yet, unfortunately, the more fake additions there are, the more will you sweat in the summer. 2-3 % is optimal.
Don’t cross out chain stores. The trousers might be of less quality, but you can get the hottest cuts of the season there. They’ll be OK for one season – „hot trendy“, which it’s good to change from time to time, as it would be pointless to invest more in them.
V. STYLE IS IMPORTANT
I’ve heard that jeans and a T-shirt are enough to look good. Of course you know me, and you know that I DISAGREE 😀 Such a combination is totally plain and doesn’t say anything about your personality. It’s the accessories that make you stylish and elegant (I wrote about it in my how to dress in your 30-ies article). Take the what style matches you quiz to tell you which accessories to wear with jeans. Even a minimalist would look good in a shirt of an interesting cut and a pretty necklace than just in jeans and a T-shirt. Boho lovers can wear jeans with airy tunics, wide brimmed hats, and long earrings, crazy rock girls with red stilettos and a biker’s jacket, elegant ones with a black stripped shirt, a pink jacket and a green clutch, streetwear fans with colorful Nike and parrots patterned hoodies, and pop girls with colorful earrings and a cobalt top. And glamour lovers? Well, take a look at the collage! 😉
