You can already read about summer outfit mistakes and plus size outfit mistakes on my blog, and today I decided to continue the series and… write about make-up mistakes! Check if you make any of these 😉

1. WRONG SHADE OF FOUNDATION

Foundation is where the make-up starts, it’s the first step to the perfect look. It should comply with the color of our skin. If after a few minutes after the application your skin starts getting all oily it means that the foundation moisturizes the skin too much, if the foundation is too dry – the skin gets overdried. When you get a new finish, make sure to test it on your jaw, not on your wrist, like people usually do. If you don’t like traditional foundations, consider using mineral powder or BB cream (I recommend the Korean ones, as they perfectly adapt to the color of your skin).

2. TOO LIGHT CONCEALER

A concealer should be only a shade lighter than the color of our skin. It should highlight the face in a subtle way, without others spotting it. It should make you look fresh and natural. Avoid light spots under the eyes, and be careful not to apply too much of the cosmetic. Go for highlighting concealers, I’m a great fan of Touche Eclat Yves Saint Laurent.

3. BRONZER INSTEAD OF BLUSH

Women often use bronzer instead of blush. These are two totally different cosmetics, which have two totally different functions. Bronzer makes the face look slimmer, accentuates its shape. It looks most natural if you apply it in the shape of digit 3. See this picture and find out how to do it. Blush should imitate natural blushing, make it seem as if you’ve had a run on a windy day. If your skin is fair, go for a pink shade, if it’s darker, choose salmon.

4. NO BLUSH

I sometimes meet ladies who wear make-up, but clearly have not used any blush. When I see them, I immediately feel like taking a brush and helping them apply some on their face 😀 Make-up is not complete without it, as the face seems too flat. If I was to take 2 cosmetics with me to a deserted island, I’d go for mineral powder and blush 😉 Check Well Dressed by MAC – it looks natural and the color is totally universal. Smile and apply it at the top of your cheekbones.

5. „ROLLED” EYESHADOW

Applying make-up base everyday is not such a great idea, as it’s another layer that can totally clog your pores. You skin doesn’t like it. Eyeshadow base is a totally different story. It’s way more delicate and you should totally use it everytime you go for eyeshadow. It makes the color stay the same for the whole day. I recommend Urban Decay and Estee Lauder ones.

6. EYESHADOW SPOTS

Blending is the key to success. And how to do it? Simply use a brush to apply eyeshadow with. If you opt for a dark color and don’t apply it properly, you’ll simply look as if someone had punched you 😀 On top of that, it’ll make your eye seem tiny, as dark colors make everything seem optically smaller 😉 How to avoid that? Apply some light eyeshadow on the whole lid, then some dark in the outer corners of your eyes. Use a brush to mix the shadows.

7. POSKLEJANE RZĘSY I ZBYT CIEMNA MASKARA

I recently wrote about eyelash extensions, which is totally comfy, but if you’re not a great fan of the method and prefer nature, remember about a few things. First of all, get a mascara that will brush your lashes instead of glueing them. I’m a great fan of MaxFactor False Lash Effect. Apply 2 layers minimum. If your complexion is fair, don’t go for black, brown will do much better 😉

Make sure to wait until the first layer of mascara is dry and only then apply the second one.

8. TOO STRONG EYELINER

I’ve already posted an article about eyebrow mistakes HERE, and today I’m just going to remind you that a too tight line above the eyes makes us look angry and a too wide one – makes our face “disappear” behind the brows. It’s best to keep as close as possible to what nature gave us 😉 Get rid only of the hair that grows totally not where your natural brows are. Make sure to use make-up in the color of your natural hair. Pluck your brows carefully, but not too carefully. They don’t have to look like you’ve used a template (or a glass, haha 😉 ). Nature doesn’t give us perfectly straight brows, does it? 😉

9. TOO MUCH MAKE UP ON THE LOWER LID

Using dark eyeliner on your lower eyelid doesn’t look good. It makes the eye seem sad. It’s better to go for a bit of eyeshadow in the outer corner of your eye. If you also want to “open” and make your eye bigger, apply some eyeliner on your upper lid. You’ll find s detailed tutorial here.

10. WRONG SHADE OF LIPSTICK OR NO LIPSTICK AT ALL

If when it comes to your outfit jewelry is the so-called icing on the cake, when it comes to make-up, this role surely goes to lipstick. If you like the natural color of your lips, make sure to moisturize them and apply a transparent lipgloss or one of the nude colors. It’s nice to note down that small lips look better if they’re in color! A lipstick marks the contour and makes them look bigger. Marilyn Monroe, whose lips were a bit narrow, was perfectly aware of that – sexy red made her lips become one of the most sexy ones in the world! 😉
