Well, let me break it to you: a nicely decorated Christmas tree is not enough! Turn your house into a land of magic! All you need is some ribbon, a few sticks, and… a handful of ideas! Check out the ones I listed below, and… GET INSPIRED!
1. SNOWFLAKES DRIFTING IN THE AIR
If you want to create that Christmas Carol mood in your flat, you’ll just need a few snowflakes cut out of regular paper hung on thin strings from your windowsill, or the ceiling, for example. If you want the outcome to be more spectacular – go for different snowflake patterns, and hang some of them higher and some lower. They’ll look as if they were falling from the sky! 😉 If you’re not patient enough for DIY, you can go and get some ready-made ones at a store.
2. A WINTER GARDEN ENCHANTED IN GLASS
You’ll totally charm your guests if you place an original lantern on the table. You’ll just need a big glass vase, a cylinder-shaped one, preferably. Place some spruce sticks and a few pine-cones at the bottom, and put a big white candle on top (THIS one is nice). Use some fake snow to get a Christmas look (you can get it HERE). You can also go for Christmas tree lights (check THESE out) instead of a candle – they’ll look amazing inside the vase!
3. SIMPLE KITCHEN DECORATIONS
You can easily decorate your kitchen by turning your shelves into… giant presents 😉 Use a wide red ribbon to decorate the doors of the drawers and attach some nice pictures from last Christmas on them. You can also tie a bow and pin it on the doors. They’ll make your kitchen look like a Christmas elves’ storage house 😉
Just a few sticks, glass balls, or… straws are enough to create the perfect Christmas decoration!
4. A BOARD FULL OF INSPIRATIONS
How about painting one of the walls in your kitchen with „blackboard paint”? It’ll give you so much Christmas fun! You can use some chalk to write MERRY CHRISTMAS on it and paint whatever comes to your mind – nice Christmas trees, snowflakes, or happy reindeers. When Christmas is over, such a board will be a perfect place to take notes – you can use it to write down what you need to buy.
5. SCANDINAVIAN STYLE STARS
Sweedish style decorations are one of the simplest and most beautiful Christmas pieces. You can easily create a Scandinavian star on your own, if only you have straws around (the ones for drinks will do), or sticks collected during a walk. Just hold a few pieces together, tie them where they cross and create nice shapes. Let the collage below inspire you!
6. CHIC STAIRS
If you live in a house, or have a two-storey flat, you should totally remember to decorate the stairs! Collect a few branches (Siberian spruce is a durable option 😉 ) – use white ribbon to attach them to the handrail. You can use fake snow or silver glitter to decorate the branches with. You can also go for big letters carved out from wood and put them on the stairs. They’re available HERE, for example.
7. AN XXL CENTERPIECE
Place the centerpiece in an unusual place – how about in the hall, or in the eating room by the fire? I’m telling you! It’ll be admired by every guest! You can use a wooden box and place a big metal bowl inside it. Put some birch sticks, pine-cones, and lamps in the bowl. I like THESE, for example – these lanterns are stunning!
