Even though this year instead of New Year’s resolutions I decided to note down a list of things I’m planning to avoid doing in 2018 I have to admit that I usually succeed in making my dreams come true. Why? I have a very professional approach. Read on to find out what my tricks are! Happy New Year!
1. WHAT IS IT THAT YOU WANT? SET THE GOAL.
Let me start with the bad news: you’ll never achieve what you haven’t even brought up 😉 It’s way easier to achieve the goals you can verbalize. If you have doubts and stutter while telling about the dream to someone – think twice. What is it that you truly want to achieve? Instead of a general “I’d like to be happy”, or “I’d like to meet the love of my life”, “I want to meet the love of my live” statement, take it slow and think everything through – otherwise your it won’t work and will leave you frustrated that you’ve failed once again. What are you REALLY going to do to be more happy, more rich, and in love? What actions are you gonna take, HOW should you change? What’s your idea?
2. GET PREPARED LIKE A PRO
Do you remember this feeling when you fold your sleeves up on a Saturday morning and… tidying up your desk makes you simply happy? Use the same kind of motivation for making your dreams come true. Become professional. You have so many options to help you organize your time and hold on to your New Year’s resolutions. Reach for calendars, notebooks, apps, and online forums. Be the Boss of your own life 😀 Set goals, meet deadlines, reach for various tools. Even if it’s a motivating fridge magnet 😉
3. TAKE IT „STEP BY STEP”
When the New Year’s Eve confetti’s cleaned, sit down with a pen in your hand. Split your big New Year’s plan between smaller goals, and I guarantee you – it’ll be way easier to make your dream come true! You’ll simply feel less overwhelmed! 😉 If you’re planning to earn more money, think how you can broaden your qualifications (courses, workshops, textbooks) and where to find a better-paid job. Invest in knowledge, create a new CV, and start looking for a job! 😉

4. LOOK FOR SUPPORT
You can use the tools mentioned in #2, but remember that your friends and family are a great support. I have to admit that social media can also do wonders 😀 If you write on Facebook that you’ve decided to quit smoking, you’ll simply feel bad reaching for another one. Nice method, isn’t it? 😀
5. FIND YOUR OWN ‘MEMOS’
When I fight my weaknesses, I apply the “MEMO” method. They accompany me in the form on stickers on the fridge, smartphone alarms, and pictures on my computer’s desktop – everything that reminds you to go to the gym instead of watching the new season of your favorite series. Be careful not to put too many memos around you, though, as they can simply lose their strength. One quote above your bed will work way better than a dozen in the room, kitchen, car, and so on…
6. GET INSPIRED
Celebrities or friends can also be your „memos”. Follow inspiring Instagram profiles, interesting blogs, get inspired by the lives and actions of people that you admire. Such a dose of inspiration will surely help you stick to your resolutions. Reading biographies of successful people is also a way. I recently got inspired by Into the Magic Shop written by a doctor, James R. Doty (you’ll get it HERE), who had to overcome tones of obstacles to make his childhood dream come true 😉
7. PRAISE YOUR SUCCESS
You’ll find it easier to stick to your New Year’s resolutions if you keep checking your progress and awarding yourself at every significant milestone. It’ll make you associate your goal with pleasure and not duty. If you’re planning to save some money, there’s nothing bad in getting something nice from time to time – it’ll motivate you to make an even bigger effort. If you’re planning to learn Spanish – go to Madrid after you’ve learnt the basics!
