Eyeliner accentuates the shape of your eye and gives you that „deeper” look. Well, but only if you apply it correctly! If you’re up to date with memes, you surely know how bad experimenting with it can end. Today I decided to gather all the eyeliner mistakes in a one short article. From now on I guarantee you the perfectly winged eyeliner! 😉
1. ASYMMETRICAL LINES
A very common mistake of all beginners. Despite appearances, making two identical lines isn’t easy, but still – it’s doable, it just requires a bit of patience, time, and, above all – skill. If you haven’t been using eyeliner for long, don’t leave doing your make-up for the very last moment – you won’t be able to fix it if something goes wrong. Make sure to control if the second line is as thick and long as the first one and that their shape is similar.
2. TOO LONG LINES
Thick lines usually express two things: a belief that a strong Twiggy-like make-up is great for every occasion and every eye shape, or… corrections that usually result from adding a few milimeters to a line which was subtle at the beginning in order to make both lines look similar. Be careful – thick lines are usually a better choice to wear for parties – not to school or work. As for the corrections – it’s way better to remove what you already have than to paint over it 😉
3. LINES THAT START AT THE VERY CORNER OF YOUR EYE
If you don’t want to make your eyes optically smaller, paint delicate and fine lines around the inner corners of your eyes and make sure they get thicker at 2/3 of your eye’s width. Make sure they’re a bit winged and also work on the shape of the beginning of the line.
4. POOR EYELINER AND LACK OF BASE
As with all make-up products, the quality of the eyeliner is crucial. A poor one will keep pressing dark marks on your upper lid. If you want the product to stay on your eye for longer, you may use eyeshadow base and a bit of powder (before you apply eyeliner). Don’t forget what cosmetics are for. Remember that eyeliner is not made for smoky eyes or doing your waterline – invest in an eye pencil and eyeshadows 😉
5. UGLY WINGED LINES
The way your lines are angled is crucial. They should neither be too fine, nor too thick. If they face down too much, you’ll seem sad, if they’re too angled – they’ll simply look funny. Remember, though: the line is supposed to look professional, so there’s no room for any handshakes 😀
6. UNEVEN LINES
The lines won’t look good if they’re uneven. Adjusting the shape of your line to the shape of your face is crucial. Make sure the line subtly melts with the eyelashes line.
7. LEAVING A GAP BETWEEN YOUR LASHES AND THE LID
Such a make-up will make everyone stop caring about what you say, as your eyes will simply distract them. If you don’t apply the eyeliner in a way that it covers the area between the line and the eyelashes completely, your make-up won’t look professional. Make sure to apply the eyeliner very carefully in that area; if it’s too hard, you can use a brush to apply some dark eyeshadow instead. Make sure to do your eyelashes as well.
